Bearing that in mind, here are three stocks favored by the Street's top pros, according to TipRanks, a platform that ranks analysts based on their past performance. Silberman noted that U.S. same-store sales growth of 5.6% reflected broad-based momentum, with improved traffic experienced in carryout and delivery. She added that the traffic growth was driven by Domino's revamped loyalty program, strong value proposition, operations and innovation. The analyst also noted that DPZ is benefiting from increased contributions from Uber Eats, thanks to growing marketing efforts and awareness. The analyst thinks that the company's strategic initiatives will enhance same-store sales growth and drive meaningful restaurant margin expansion in the near and long term.

Analyst Peter Saleh trimmed his estimates for same-store sales, a key metric used by retailers and restaurants, for Starbucks , Chipotle and Shake Shack . He now sees Shake Shack's same-store sales rising just 2.9% in 2024, down from a previous estimate of 4.4%. "We see a greater impact on operators serving higher-income, more educated customer bases ... leading us to trim our same-store sales and EPS estimates." A separate BTIG survey found that Starbucks, Chipotle and Shake Shack are three restaurants with the greatest exposure to these borrowers. Shares of Chipotle and Shake Shack have outperformed the broader market this year, rallying 41% and 60%, respectively.

Corporate execs and lawyers with business before the Supreme Court mingled with some of the country's most influential jurists. Revelations about Thomas and Crow's relationship have prompted calls in Congress for the Supreme Court to adopt its first-ever binding code of ethics. But as a Supreme Court justice, Kagan is not currently bound by those rules. The Aspen Institute isn't alone in dangling Supreme Court access to lure deep-pocketed donors. Financial support for a public mission flowed one way, and scheduled private time with Supreme Court justices was dispensed in return.

But Shake Shack said on Tuesday that Engaged Capital would support the board's full slate of directors at the 2023 annual meeting of stockholders. The company has named Jeffrey Lawrence, former finance chief at apparel retailer FIGS Inc (FIGS.N) and Domino's Pizza Inc (DPZ.N), as an independent director. It has also mutually agreed with Engaged Capital to add another director with restaurant operations experience. Engaged Capital did not immediately respond to Reuters request for additional comments. Goldman Sachs says 2023 should be a decent year for stocks even if there's a recession. The firm's investment strategy group discussed its multi-asset views this week. The simultaneous nosedive in stocks and bonds last year doesn't debunk the theory behind the traditional 60-40 portfolio, according to Goldman Sachs. But Sharmin Mossavar-Rahmani, the head of the Investment Strategy Group (ISG) at Goldman Sachs, says that it's not that unusual for stocks and bonds to move in the same direction. In fact, he noted that if a recession begins and ends in 2023, stocks may not have a bad year.
